The quality of our plants

Van den Elzen Plantenkwekerij Erp is a closed-end seed grower where the Super Elite propagation material is cultivated and selected in aphid-free greenhousesAphids are a major source of viruses. That is why our plant material - from candidate plants to deliverable product - is cultivated in an aphid-free greenhouse.. The material is then used for duplication or finds its way to the strawberry producer.

We have the know-how, experience and equipment to realise the complete process from cultivating to packaging well and efficiently. In this we are progressive in the application of the newest technology and techniques. To name a few:

• the inventive watering methods at our plots;
  
• the modern sorting and processing facilities with which the plants are packaged in an efficient manner;
  
• the advanced once-through cooling In addition to our conventional cooling system we also have a once-through cooling system that is especially suited to cool the plant material down again quickly. Thereafter it is kept at the right temperature in a traditional manner. Thanks to these facilities and our modern sorting and production facilities we are able to get the plants boxed while still cold, within a couple of hours. Essential for quality! to cool the plants down again.
  

In addition we perform plant sap analysesPlant sap analysis is done to determine the nutritive value of the plant by testing the leaf, to see if all of the elements are present and if the values are correct. If not, one can correct this on time: a guarantee that the plant does not suffer a shortage of anything and can grow with the proper balance of nutrients. and Truss countsWhen performing a truss count (plant mapping) you determine how many flowertrusses a strawberry plant has. How have they developed in the plant? Where are they located in the plant, high or deep? What is the potential of that plant and does is satisfy the wish of the customer? A quality control. on a regular basis to control the quality and potential of the plants. We do everything to ensure that you, the customer, get the plants you want!

All of our plants are inspected by the NAK-T (Dutch General Inspection Service for agricultural seeds and seed potatoes).

Traceable products

All of the end products at Van den Elzen Plantenkwekerij Erp can be traced by means of a unique lot number. This number refers to the different number of the cooling site, sorting and packaging employees, plots and plant lots. In this way it can be determined exactly from which plant a specific lot of vegetables or fruit originated.
